Steve has led mission-driven organizations throughout the world for the past 25 years, specializing in stakeholder engagement and public-private partnerships to enable local economic development throughout the world – including extended work in China and India. Steve is Executive Director of Urban Solutions which has delivered leading neighborhood revitalization and small business development work in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Urban Solutions, Steve led global operations at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), which works with Fortune 500 companies to strategize and execute corporate social responsibility programs. He also helped lead Deloitte Consulting’s sustainability and capacity building programs as well as consulting services at Bechtel Corporation and its spin-off, Nexant, Inc. He has also held leadership roles in global consulting at International City Management Association (ICMA) and as founder of Community to People, a non-profit that issues micro bridge loans as an alternative to payday lenders in the U.S. Steve received a Master’s in business and contract law from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BA from Duke University. He speaks English, Chinese and French and is the author of three books. He has worked in over 30 countries and has been based in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years with his wife and two children.
