Good World Solutions seeks an experienced, results-driven Senior Manager to lead its Global Operations (GO) team. The position will report to the Director of Engagement and Operations, and play a vital role in helping us positively impact the lives of factory workers around the world. The Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Global Operations team’s ability to create business-relevant products and deliver those products on time, on budget and to clients’ satisfaction. A pre-requisite for this position is demonstrated experience in organization-wide program management. The ideal candidate has advanced interpersonal and problem-solving skills and brings a flexible, creative approach to their work.
Build and lead Global Operations team that successfully delivers GWS products against defined contracts and deadlines:
Work with Director of Engagement and Operations to deliver standard operating procedures, as well as regular, strategic review of existing processes and improvements.
Support Director in budget planning and monitoring key performance metrics for global operations and programs, including Annual Operations Plan.
Plan and manage staffing/ capacity to meet multiple contract and program needs.
Grow and nurture global team in priority markets, including office set-up in China, as well as other key markets as needed.
Manage team of high-performing direct reports:
Act as advocate and definitive voice for Global Ops team workload, deadlines and launch planning.
Monitor team workload and budget, including providing clarity regarding relevant objectives, priorities, deadlines, and accountability structures.
Create and track strategic priorities for each direct report; regularly meet to monitor progress against targets, troubleshoot and maintain alignment across team.
Mentor direct reports using a collaborative approach that inspires a sense of ownership in their professional development.
Collaborate with Client Engagement, Fundraising and Product teams to provide relevant insights and research for product development and delivery:
Engage with Product and Client Engagement teams to determine business-relevant communication of survey results, e.g. tactics and mediums to ensure clients receive information that demonstrates business value.
Adapt and enhance delivery and data review process for clients and/or suppliers, e.g. creating standardized tools such as webinar or presentation decks.
Provide core recommendations under each stock survey topic area for clients and/or suppliers
Capture and/or evaluate non-standard client requests with Client Engagement and Product teams to determine best path forward: consulting services, new product development or extension of current products.
Coordinate customer satisfaction surveys for individual campaigns among Global Operations team, in collaboration with Client Engagement.
Create templates and compile easily shared case studies for clients and/or suppliers, and to share internally, to communicate the business value of GWS products to stakeholders.
Speak authoritatively about company at industry events (as needed).
Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, international development or related field required
At least 5-7 years demonstrated professional experience planning, executing and controlling a complex, multi-site project involving multiple deliverables and remote personnel.
Experience in managing operations, process development or improvement, and impact evaluation. Preference for PMP Certification.
Experience evaluating and/or creating business strategies, budget management, and financial models within a business or start-up context
Proven ability in people management and team leadership; experiencing leading multiple teams, and partnering with management to resolve conflicts and obtain resources for projects
Detailed-oriented, comfortable working independently and have strong organization, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Advanced MS Office skills and experience with project management software, such as Trello, etc. Willingness to work outside traditional US business hours as needed.
Master’s Degree in public or business administration, international development or similar discipline or certification.
Knowledge of corporate responsibility, responsible sourcing, or supply chain management. Skills related to data collection, analysis and/or visualization tools
Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite
Foreign language skills (especially Cantonese, Mandarin, Bengali or Vietnamese)
Experience living and working in a developing country
Interest or experience in ICT4D, social enterprise, or international development, and passion for GWS’ mission.
This is a full-time position in Oakland, California
